Hive Energy Italy
Italy has committed to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
In recent years, Italy has seen tremendous growth in its renewable energy landscape. Currently, the country is deeply reliant on Natural Gas and is seeking to expand on RES adoption in order to reduce demand for fossil fuel based power sources. The move away from Natural Gas will improve infrastructure efficiency and support the country’s climate targets.
While Italy is quickly ramping its green energy adoption, solar is only contributing around 10% of annual power generation. In 2023, Italy added more than 5GW of solar capacity, bringing the total installed capacity to over 30GW. This is more than 1/3 of the overall 80GW target capacity laid out in its National Energy and Climate Plan submitted in 2023.
Italy’s ambitious goals make the RES landscape the ideal opportunity for Hive’s investment and development experience. We have already completed multiple projects in the region since 2021 and have a strong PV pipeline across the country.
