Croatia is already improving its renewable energy infrastructure, with around 33% of its power being generated from renewable sources.
Hydropower is a key source of green energy for Croatia and will play a vital role in the country’s goal to cut emissions by 45% before 2030. Despite the growing green energy capacity in Croatia, solar and wind adoption is lacking, leaving a gap in the market. In 2023 Croatia’s PV capacity increased by almost 50%, from 224 MW to 305 MW.
Hive joined the Croatian renewables market in 2022 and our Country Manager, Ivo, has been working to establish a solar portfolio in the region, as well as investigating BESS and green hydrogen opportunities. We now have a pipeline of more than 1 GW in the country, which will provide a significant amount of power to the grid once complete.
The projects in our portfolio range from early-stage to land secured and documents in progress. With more than 30 projects in development, this pipeline will significantly bolster Croatia’s power security and supportnet zero goals.
